Getting Better Results in Literacy Masterclass: KS1 and KS2

Making good use of No Nonsense Literacy:  Using sequences of learning based on texts that teach. 
This session will introduce No Nonsense Literacy, which is an extensive resource of 100+ sequence of literacy work based on quality texts.  If you have the resource, you will be able to ensure it is introduced effectively as a result of this session.  If you don’t, then it will give you an overview of the resource and provide key input on developing sequences based on texts.

Teachers will:
- Explore creating writerly knowledge charts
- Analyse elicitation tasks
- Use assessment information to adapt planning
- Develop clear understanding of the progression through a  three part teaching sequence based on a high quality text
- Consider how to use Assessment of Writing

Developing Vocabulary Learning
This session will cover:
- Vocabulary demands of current assessment regime
- What does some of the research tell us?
- Practical strategies for teaching vocabulary based on research.
Who should attend 
Primary Teachers and Literacy Coordinators.

This Masterclass is suitable for any teachers who have purchased or are considering purchasing ‘No Nonsense Literacy’ to learn how to make best use of these resources. 
About Rebecca Cosgrave
Lead Literacy Adviser, Babcock LDP
Rebecca Cosgrave has extensive experience as a teacher and adviser in London and Devon.   She currently leads the Babcock LDP Primary English team who work with schools to support school improvement and deliver a wide range of training.  As well as expertise and experience in the content of the English curriculum, Rebecca and the team are accredited KS2 moderators and support KS1 moderation.

Rebecca and the team produce many high quality resources for schools which are available on their highly regarded website.  They have also been involved in many publications including ‘No Nonsense Literacy’, ‘No Nonsense Grammar’ and ‘No Nonsense Spelling’ (Raintree).
