Making good use of No Nonsense Literacy: Using sequences of learning based on texts that teach.
This session will introduce No Nonsense Literacy, which is an extensive resource of 100+ sequence of literacy work based on quality texts. If you have the resource, you will be able to ensure it is introduced effectively as a result of this session. If you don’t, then it will give you an overview of the resource and provide key input on developing sequences based on texts.
- Explore creating writerly knowledge charts
- Analyse elicitation tasks
- Use assessment information to adapt planning
- Develop clear understanding of the progression through a three part teaching sequence based on a high quality text
- Consider how to use Assessment of Writing
Developing Vocabulary Learning
This session will cover:
- Vocabulary demands of current assessment regime
- What does some of the research tell us?
- Practical strategies for teaching vocabulary based on research.

Lead Literacy Adviser, Babcock LDP
Rebecca Cosgrave has extensive experience as a teacher and adviser in London and Devon. She currently leads the Babcock LDP Primary English team who work with schools to support school improvement and deliver a wide range of training. As well as expertise and experience in the content of the English curriculum, Rebecca and the team are accredited KS2 moderators and support KS1 moderation.
